Steam Bent Handrail

Solid red oak handrail bent around a wall protrusion heading to the second floor. Steam and weight were used to soften the lignin and allow the wood to take shape on the form. The finger groove was concealed on the back of the railing, and the custom handrail brackets conceal lag bolts into the wall and make the railing appear to float.
